As I had not considered resurfacing past memories to bring bring „bubbles of joy“ into my present, I had to think about it and try it out to see what warmth, joy or aliveness arrived. At first not at all. The past was over and done with. The past felt more like concrete blocks which built my present that were necessary for my Future. The past felt too settled and formed and compacted to shake lose any joy or warmth. But what did come up was a process I have used in the past for joy. That was when I participated in a 10K, or saw the sun setting over cornfields, or straddled my leg over a horse, or entered a Japanese tea house that I would pause and say: Wow don‘t I have a great life. Just taking a moment of savoring because in that very moment I knew it was special. After reading your article I took an actual pause and thought about all of these savoring moments and indeed you were right I felt warmth, joy and aliveness. Thank you for the experience that I would not have had if I had not read your article.
